Donating to the Collection

The Norwich Historical Society has an extensive collection of books, papers, textiles and other objects that have been donated to the Society since its founding in 1951. If you are interested in donating an item that relates to Norwich’s rich history, please contact the Society’s Director at info@norwichhistory.org or 802-649-0124.

First, we will ask that you fill out an object questionnaire describing the proposed gift. If possible, a photo may be submitted at the email above. The Collections Committee then reviews the questionnaire and evaluates the object to decide whether or not the proposed gift fits in with what is already in the collection. The Board of Trustees gives final approval on all acquisitions.

The Society has a Collections Management Policy that covers all aspects of acquisitions including care and use of objects in its collections. The policy is available upon request.
