Support NHS

The mission of the Norwich Historical Society is to preserve and interpret the history of the town of Norwich and to foster a greater appreciation and respect for our shared heritage.

Become a member

As a member, your dues help to maintain the historic 1807 Lewis House, the barn and surrounding grounds.  Membership dues keep the lights on, the building heated, our oil tank filled and our office running smoothly.

Support the Annual Fund

Supports our programs, special events, exhibits and proper care of our collections. Each year the Historical Society produces a new exhibit for the Lewis House, like Chad Finer’s Artists of Norwich, as well as special exhibits at the Norwich Public Library each year.  We co-sponsor with the Library the very popular First Wednesdays, a unique lecture-discussion program from the Vermont Humanities Council.  We have a responsibility to care for our collections according to proper museum standards.

Special Events

Our July House & Garden Tour and the Norwich Antiques Show in September are the two major special event/fundraisers each year.  The money raised goes to Lewis House restoration and improvement projects, such as our Windows Restoration Project, which began last year with the restoration of 12 windows and installation of energy-efficient storm windows.
